I have been a Connecticut certified Special Education teacher for 13 years working with youths, grades 7 to 12, with a myriad of special education labels. I am competent in the areas of General Science, Algebra I, Geometry, and Social Studies. I have also earned a Master's Degree in Reading and Language Arts, which is focused on diagnosing reading deficiencies, task analysis, remediation, and progress monitoring.

ADD/ADHD

Being both a certified Special Education teacher in a facility with a high number of students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and a father of a son diagnosed with ADD and a Non-Verbal Learning disorder, I have years of experience with behavior modifications and instruction of ADD/ADHD students. 10 years of teaching students and 12 years raising a son and being closely involved with the school system has given me unique insights into working with children with this diagnosis.

Algebra 1

In addition to getting my sons through their own Algebra I classes, I have taught Algebra I to high school students who have had a myriad of special education needs. I have also remediated students in need.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified Special Education (K-12) in the State of Connecticut. I have 10 years teaching experience in all common core subject areas. I have also earned a Masters in Reading and Language Arts, which emphasized diagnosing reading deficiencies, remediation, and task analysis.

Phonics

I am a certified Special Education (K-12) teacher in the State of Connecticut with 10 years teaching experience with students secure facility, the majority of which have moderate to severe reading difficulties. I also have a Masters degree in Reading and Language Arts from ESCU. I am well versed in the area of phonics instruction, and am also competent in diagnosing what areas of phonics are in need of remediation.

Social Studies

I have a Pre-Law degree in Political Science from UCONN, and I am also a certified Special Education (K-12) teacher in the State of Connecticut with 10 years teaching experience of youth in a secure facility, the majority of which a some type of Special Education Needs. Under the mandate of No Child Left Behind I have also been certified as highly qualified under our school district's HOUSSE plan. I have also earned a Masters in Reading and Language Arts from ESCU.
