I have a lifelong passion for working with young children. From babysitting regularly as a pre-teen and teenager to tutoring throughout high school to working for several families as a nanny (live-in and live out) to volunteering and substituting at my daughter’s schools, working with children brings me great joy and personal satisfaction. My background is in history and literature and my intent while I was in college was to acquire my K-12 teaching certificate. After graduation, I took a break from school to start a family. After working extensively with toddlers and primary age children as my daughter grew, I have realized that my heart lies with nurturing these young and inquisitive minds. My current background is in a Montessori inspired Jeffco Charter School where I coach 1st-3rd grade children in writing, language arts skills, and reading. I believe that active reading skills are key to success in every aspect of school and that any child can become a successful active reader. Great readers are great writers!
On a personal note, I spend my personal time pursuing various creative endeavors including photography, charcoal and pencil drawing, knitting and other fiber arts, and building extensive Lego landscapes and writing and illustrating stories with my daughter. I also enjoy gardening, cycling, playing with our family dog, and enjoying all the beauty that is Colorado.
