My name is Kady I am a 24 year old Human Services Graduate living in Westminster. After finishing my Bachelors of Science in Human Services- High Risk Youth in 2012, I took a position as a Case Manager for Medicaid services. I currently mostly work with the Senior community which I enjoy. Previously to graduating college, I worked for 4 years as a Paraprofessional at a title one public school (students ranging from Pre-k through High school). I worked in a severe special needs room as well as with students struggling with behavior. I found a true passion working with students and seeing them excel in their academics. As mentioned, I very much love my current position however would love an opportunity to add work with students into my everyday life in order to help fulfill passions in life. I consider myself to have a special touch with students with Down syndrome in particular but would love to assist any and every student to see them be successful at their goals and dreams. I work a flexible schedule currently so I have a lot of open opportunity to tutor and mentor students. Please feel free to email me and ask me anything.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 4 years' experience working as a paraprofessional at an elementary school with students k-6. A large portion of my work was with students who needed assistance becoming proficient in reading, writing, math and speech. I have created many creative tools for students in order to encourage learning such as reading pointer, math games and reward charts. I have ran several focus groups a day to help ensure students are comprehending everything they are reading as well as groups ensuring students are developing all of the necessary skills to complete math and writing work independently.

Microsoft Outlook

In my professional career I use Outlook daily to manage my schedule, emails and contacts. I am great at using the scheduling functions and calendar to make daily life more efficient and maximize my time.

Phonics

I have taught several k-5 grade students to read and sound letters in my 4 years working at the public schools. Some of my favorite techniques include using Zoo phonics to add unique and creative fun to letter sounds. I have seen many students become proficient in reading and letter sounds, even students who were ESL.

Special Needs

I have 4 years' experience as a special needs paraprofessional working with grades K-12, using a multi-modal instructional approach, integrating sign language, speech generating AAC devices, and PECS communication. I have worked on academic subjects as well as life skills and job coaching. I have created many creative tools for students with special needs in order to encourage learning in their own ways such as colorful models, sensory devices, behavior trackers with reward systems and organization tips. I have ran small groups to tutor and teach reading and writing skills as well as one on one sessions to encourage full comprehension. My patience, creativity and flexibility make me an excellent asset to teaching students with special needs.
