I am a math geek! Algebra and pre-algebra are my favorites. I currently teach math and science at Metropolitan State University of Denver as adjunct faculty, and have done so for the last 5 years. I also teach ACT prep, math, and reading at a learning center. As a former Director of Education at Sylvan, I have taught students of all ages and abilities. Getting to know my students helps me find the best way to approach each individuals' learning style and needs.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is one of my favorite subjects to teach! There are lots of "shortcuts" that make the math easier and faster. Once certain concepts make sense, everything comes together.

Geology

This is one of my fields of study; I have a BA in Science (specifically geology) from Northeastern University in Boston. I taught middle school Earth science in Maryland and loved how my students picked up on the concrete nature of this science discipline.

ACT Reading

This subject can be improved greatly with strategies! I score a 35 on average.

ACT English

Most students don't study specific grammar rules past middle school. With some rules and strategies, scores can jump! I score an average of 35-36 on this section.

ACT Math

This is my favorite of the 5 subjects (writing is the 5th), since so much improvement can be made; it is as much strategy as it is skill. I score on average a 33-35 on this test.

ACT Science

I love that you don't have to be good at science to do well in this section; it tests data and reading ability more than science content. I average a 34-36 on this section.
