Hi everyone, I am an experienced tutor with over 5 years working with students of all ages in a wide range of subjects and a great track record. I tutor Math, Science, ACT/SAT/PSAT, English and many other areas listed below. I'm a lifelong learner and love to help others not only understand the material they are learning, but enjoy learning about it. For many students there's nothing more satisfying than having that "I get it!" moment and their hard work paying off in the end. This is why tutoring is what I love to do. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Metropolitan State University of Denver and one more degree in progress (Chemistry). I've been a Teaching Assistant there multiple semesters in subjects including Pharmacology, Psychology, and Chemistry. I'm also a Research Assistant with two professors, a neuroscientist and a biochemist.

Enough about me though, let's talk about what is important to you.

My tutoring method works by helping students learn content, concepts, problem-solving, test-taking skills, and to develop the confidence they need to succeed. I listen carefully to my students and work with them to devise strategies that work for them. Each student is unique and every session is personalized depending on which area the student needs help with at that time.

The best approach to get the most efficient and effective tutoring is for me to get to know how you're doing on a subject before we meet. I encourage students to email me links/pictures of their homework, exam reviews, past exams, and even take a diagnostic/practice test for subjects such as the SAT/ACT. Not only does this save time once we meet, but I offer this on-going planning/evaluation stage for my tutoring students at no charge.

I have several reviews from parents and students available in the Testimonials section.

If you need assistance in math, science, college entrance test prep or graduate school test prep, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for your time and good luck on your journey to success!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I've been teaching Algebra and many other math subjects for my entire tutoring career. It's the first subject I started teaching over 5 years ago and is one of my most popular subjects. I'm confident in all areas of algebra and can help you or your student get the results you're looking for.

Elementary Math

I've been teaching Algebra and many other math subjects for my entire tutoring career. It's the first subject I started teaching over 5 years ago and is one of my most popular subjects. I'm confident in all areas of algebra and can help you or your student get the results you're looking for.

MCAT

I took the MCAT last year, as well as PCAT and GRE and have excelled in these standardized graduate entrance exams. I've tutored a few students over the last year and have increased scores an average of 5 points (on the 45 point scale). My educational background is in psychology, math, and sciences which helps me succeed in teaching the verbal, biological, and physical science sections of the MCAT. Tutoring students who plan on taking the MCAT is one of my favorite tutoring areas because the reward of increasing their scores leads to great medical candidates entering the profession. My goal with my current Wyzant student is to increase her score from a 29Q to at least a 34R. Scoring in the mid-30's is considered very competitive. This score has been my goal for every MCAT student who I have tutored so that their dream and goal to enter medical school becomes a reality.

Organic Chemistry

I'm about to graduate with my degree in biochemistry and received A's in both Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. I've also successfully synthesized the anti-seizure drug Dilantin in my Organic Chemistry 2 Lab. I've been a supplemental instructor in chemistry at my university for 2 semesters, going on three in the fall.

You will see results! — Jonathan tutored my son for a couple of months in order to prepare him to retake his ACT's. The improvement was remarkable and consequently, he was able to get accepted to SD School of Mines. Jonathan was always on time, very professional, and knew which tactics and strategies for ACT testing would have the most impact. Would highly recommend! ...
