Keli; Teaching for 13+ years; Enjoys helping students to succeed

Hello. I've taught and tutored for over thirteen years in all grades and all subjects. My A.A. majors were English and Economics and my B.A. is in Business, Communication and Political Science. I've completed graduate studies in Special Education, Elementary and Secondary Education. I delight in helping students enjoy school by realizing how smart they can be with a little work. I assist students with various academic styles and methods. From teaching students that have Special Needs, to those who are Gifted and Talented and all academic abilities in between, I've found that most students want to learn and are willing to work. My tutoring experience is from working at tutoring centers and teaching at after-school tutoring sites for SES programs. In Supplemental Education Services, I teach students of all ages, and with varying abilities, in English, Reading, Writing, Math and Science either one-on-one or in groups. Also, I've managed tutoring sites at which I monitored and assessed tutors' classroom management skills and academic expertise.

Teaching has always been fun for me and teaching all grades and all subjects has given me the experience I need to understand students' various learning styles and abilities. I'm continually amazed and excited when students see how smart they are when they choose to get involved in their education. Learning is most fun when we are willing to work. I think that all students are gifted and it's thrilling to see students discover their potential. I enjoy tutoring students and helping them to work through difficulties and doubts with step-by-step lessons that encourage and stimulate interest in the subjects. I hope to establish trusting relationships with my new students. Thank you.

Writing

Writing is an exploration of how we think. A student may verbally express their thoughts on a subject but be confused about writing down their words. Once they understand that they can write as easily as they speak, they learn to isolate their thoughts on a subject and patiently write them down with accuracy and good grammar. Spelling

Spelling is method of teaching letter sounds to make words. Then, applying word usage to strengthen writing skills. It's fun to communicate accurately and to say exactly what is meant. Spelling is an instrument of language that teaches students how easily they can define words by the way they are spelled.

Phonics

I've been a teacher in elementary grades and Special Needs for over ten years. Currently, I tutor students in K, 1st and 2nd grades. My instruction is in phonics, phonetic awareness, word recognition and letters.
