Finally putting my job aside to pursue my passion, I left engineering and completed both a Math degree (Dean's list) and a secondary math teaching license in 2013. I tutored my way through school and students, at a minimum, raised one letter grade. Most importantly they gained an appreciation of learning how to think, as I guide them through a process of understanding. Having taught in various middle and high school classrooms for the last four years, I understand what a teacher requires, what is important in a lesson and what will most likely be tested.
I am fortunate to have gained industry experience to provide multiple representations students use to make sense of it all and answer the question, "why do I need this??" I am also qualified to teach Spanish and French in Colorado schools. A broad view has helped to connect to my students through multiple representations. A fundamental knowledge base in my career as an engineer, Calculus finally puts together useful math on a vast number of professions.
