Are you worried about your child's reading, or concerned about "summer slump?" I am an elementary school teacher with ten years of experience, primarily with kindergarten through second grade, though I have taught up to seventh graders. I also have a reading certification and extensive experience with struggling readers, dyslexia and special needs. I have a master's degree in education, and a bachelor's in English with a minor in Japanese. I received intensive reading training from the Colorado Reading First program. I have multi-sensory training through the Orton-Gillingham program, designed to teach phonics and reading in a quick, fun way that reaches even the most reluctant reader. I taught English as a foreign language for three years in Japan. I also love to teach writing, and have training in many writing programs.
I can provide fun, fast paced lessons that use games blended with research based techniques to help struggling students thrive. I will provide an assessment to find the areas a student needs to work on to succeed, and provide lessons tailored to the student's needs and pace. I am willing to provide homework help as well. I am available evenings and weekends. School shouldn't be a struggle; let me help!
