What I Can Do For You:
I can provide assistance with a variety of course work from preparatory courses in mathematics and physics on the high school and college entry level to most subjects that are required in an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering curriculum.
I will determine the student's course requirements and the areas where she/he needs help in fulfilling these requirements. I will try to determine the course structure so that my help is closely coordinated with the school program and then develop any necessary lesson plans to structure the help I provide and gage the student's progress on an ongoing basis.
I use a question and answer method of instruction combined with some commentary about what the subject matter covers and the level of the student's understanding. I am interested in helping to prepare students to embark on college level courses and then to provide help with undergraduate college course work. The Mechanical Engineering education, which is where my principle interest lies, is generally one that prepares the student to embark on a career that can be very general in nature. The student must master a wide variety of subject matter, chemistry, physics, mathematics and then go on to more advanced subject matter that uses these disciplines as the basis for understanding.
I have many years of experience in the practice of Mechanical Engineering. My career has covered work in a number of industries: Aerospace, Heavy Industrial Equipment, Vacuum Technology, Structural Design and Analysis, Mineral Processing, Municipal Waste Water Treatment Equipment, Fuel Conversion Technology, Process Facility Design Computer Hard Drive Manufacturing. In participating in these industries I have used every subject that is a part of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum: Mathematics from Algebra to Differential Equations and Engineering Analysis, basic Chemistry, Physics, Metallurgy and Manufacturing Operations and Processes, Basic Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Design, modeling and documentation methods and advanced subjects that use these as a basis.
