My name is Maria and I have a PhD in Biology. I currently work part time as a researcher at CU in Boulder but always enjoyed teaching and have missed it since I stopped. I have a lot of experience teaching biology courses at the college level and am very confident that I can help students at any level of biology to improve their understanding of the subject. At CU I have taught general biology, non-majors biology and genetics. While most of my professional experience has been teaching at the college level I have spent a lot of time teaching elementary children science topics on a volunteer basis. I started a science program at my children's elementary school where I come into the classrooms and teach various scientific topics ranging from basic physics to the scientific method. Through this experience I have found that I have a knack for relating difficult scientific concepts to young people in a way that they can understand and enjoy. I really enjoy teaching to young people and believe that science can be taught in a way that that makes it fun and exciting. Please contact me and I'll give your student a solid understanding, foundation and interest in biology that will stay with them for a lifetime!
