Geometry

My favorite course in graduate school was a course in LOGIC. As we know, the most challenging part of a high school geometry class is doing proofs. This is a direct application of logic.

Music History

I am an accomplished amateur classical clarinetist. I was principal clarinet in my community orchestra for 10 years, performed Weber Concerto #1 with them, and played in a woodwind quintet, a wind trio, and played extensive duets with a flute player. During my computer science major at the University of Southern Maine, FORTRAN was my most heavily used programming language. I then used FORTRAN professionally over a period of five years in University administration, an electric utility and military contractor.

Logic

I studied first-order predicate logic in my graduate studies in mathematics leading to my Master of Science in Teaching degree.

Microsoft Outlook

I am currently a Managing Consultant for a small software I have been part of the group for 15 years.

The group is dispersed geographically, and we communicate with both one another and with our clients primarily via email. We have always used Outlook for email, as well as the Calendar, scheduling meetings, and contact management. I also use the Tasks feature and multiple email address management.

Microsoft Windows

In 1983 I began using MS-DOS. I started using Microsoft Windows version 3.1 in 1990, and since have used Windows versions 1995, 1998, 2000, XP, Vista, and Version 7. I use my PC about 10 hours a day and consider myself a power windows user.

Visual Basic

I have been using Visual Basic for Applications since 1990 (writing Excel macros). Over the past 15 years, as part of a small consulting group (10 people) for which I am currently a Managing Consultant, I am the only Excel macro programmer in the group, which requires me to frequently write and maintain complex macros for extensive data manipulation and analysis.
