I am a licensed K-6 Educator with an endorsement in reading in Colorado. For the past 8 years I've taught 1st grade. I received my bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. I have my master's degree from University of Colorado in Elementary Education Literacy. I was an instructional leader at my school for 5 years learning the most up-to-date instructional practices. I believe in finding enjoyable ways to present information to students that encourages critical thinking, engagement, and a love of learning.
During my years as a teacher, I ran a reading program during the summer for struggling readers and writers. I offer literacy intervention in phonics, fluency, and comprehension. I have experience using a variety of reading curriculums and tools, such as Words Their Way, The Daily Five CAFE, DIBELS, and DRA2. I also taught an advanced math class where I differentiated instruction to meet a variety of learning styles. I offer math intervention using a hands on approach, which encourages students to reason through math in pictures, numbers, and words.
As a new stay-at-home mom I have plenty of flexibility to now share my passion for teaching, specifically elementary reading and writing. I look forward to meeting you and helping your child succeed!
