I was born in Osaka, Japan and lived there until I was 26 years old. I taught conversational English to Japanese children aged between 2 and 13 for six years while I lived there. My American husband and I owned an English conversation school in Japan. After moving to the United States, I homeschooled my children and I am almost done raising our third child. I have been teaching conversational Japanese to a couple of adults currently. My teaching methods are not limited to using text books alone. I use flash cards, games and even songs when students are small children. I can also teach Japanese culture, like origami, old Japanese fables, cooking Japanese cuisine, how to wear Kimonos and so on.

Japanese

I am a native Japanese tutor. I have over 10 years of tutoring experience. When I tutor, I am not limited to just using text books. I use flash cards, fun games, songs and so on. I can also teach cultural aspects of Japan. For example, origami, cooking, sewing and how to wear Kimonos. I also love teaching in a unit study setting, like tutoring while cooking a Japanese dish. I can teach students of any age, including small children.

Knows English and Japanese better than most native speakers — Initially, I wasn't sure how much I was going to invest in learning Japanese. My goal is to read, write, and speak the language fluently, but getting a personal tutor is always a bit of a gamble. Harumi has completely removed any reservations I had: she has proven to be a better tutor than I even hoped to get. I expected either a native speaker whose English wasn't perfect (what I got when I firs ...
