I am an Electrical Engineer working in the Space Industry. I have been working locally at Lockheed Martin since 2003. I have worked programs such as Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Phoenix Lander and am leading the design effort for an Avionics Assembly for the next Human Spaceflight Vehicle, the Orion. I was inspired years ago by the Pathfinder mission and I believe in inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists.
I'm not a teacher, have never been a teacher and do not claim to be a teacher. Although, I have considered applying for a college level math instructor. During my college years, I always tutored my fellow students to gain mastery over the subject material I was learning. To explain it to others, one must understand the material.
I have had the benefit of tutoring my son and guiding and helping him all through his High School career where he took Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Chemistry, AP Calculus and AP Statistics.
I enjoyed the experience because it was a refresher for myself as well as a big help for him. It gave me the confidence to know I can be an effective tutor for other young people.
I am very visual and I believe in enforcing the physical realities of math through relating equations to plots.
I believe that tying equations to physical reality creates an intuitive understanding of the material is a must for a student. I also believe in repetition, repetition, repetition. Practice/homework is essential.
Hope to hear from you soon.
