I have been tutoring students in math since 2004. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the University of California Santa Cruz where I worked as a department tutor, helping with all undergraduate Mathematics coursework. Since then, I have been teaching Mathematics courses and tutoring at the University of Illinois in Chicago and at the Larimer campus of Front Range Community College. I have privately tutored college and high school students in California, Illinois, and Colorado. I earned a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois 2009.

I'm a very flexible tutor who sees each student as an individual person with individual needs and goals. My own goal as a tutor is to make sure that you gain a clear understanding of whatever you choose to work on.

I have mostly worked with high school and college students, but I am open to all ages and levels of experience.

Discrete Math

I have a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois in Chicago. I took two courses in Discrete Math during my undergraduate studies, one under the title Foundations of Higher Mathematics. The following topics were covered:
Elements of set theory, point set topology, principles of recursion and mathematical induction, direct proofs, proof by contradiction, induction vs. strong induction, division algorithm and basic number theory, binomial theorem, basic graph theory and combinatorics, the pigeon-hole principle, countability, well-ordered principle, sequences and convergence, basic group theory.
My studies in each of these topics was expanded upon in subsequent upper division and graduate courses in Topology, Abstract Algebra, Combinatorics, Graph Theory, etc. I also taught a course called Quantitative Reasoning while I was a graduate student. The course provided an introduction to Discrete Mathematics and Logic.

Logic

I took a basic course in Logic as an undergraduate student and received a grade of A.
The course covered Symbolic Logic, Truth Tables, common logical fallacies: Red Herring, Appeal to Authority, etc., DeMorgan's Rule and variations, Valid arguments vs. sound arguments, logical implication, converting verbal arguments into symbolic form, modus ponens & modus tollens.
Since this course I have taken numerous other courses during my undergraduate and graduate education which have employed the use of Logic including: Set Theory, Combinatorics, Topology, Abstract Algebra, and Model Theory. As a graduate student I taught a course in Quantitative Reasoning which provided an introduction to Logic and Discrete Mathematics.
