Hey there, My name is Cody. I am a mom, and a civil engineer. I have tutored children and adults in math subjects, ranging from arithmetic to calculus. I have always loved math, and really enjoy helping others understand it, and possibly grow to love it. My son is like many others, and can get frustrated, by not understanding math problems. I believe that how the math is taught is a big factor in whether the student is able understand it, and possibly like it. I also feel that by having several different people teach students in math, the students will learn different approaches and can find the way he/she understands the best. I also feel that when students become very familiar with the basics of math, they will have an easier time learning the higher levels of math.
Math is one of the most important tools, along with communication skills; it is truly the universal language. My son likes to play a game with me, where he gives me a topic, for example, riding a bike, and I have to show how math can be a part of it. So far, he hasn't been able to come up with one....and he has tried :). I apologize for writing a book; I just love to see people go from frustration, to understanding, to being excited about getting problems correct, and then seeing how they can apply what they have learned in everyday activities.
I hope to be able to help! Cheers
