I have taught English and reading in Texas public schools at every grade level, twelfth grade down through kindergarten, beginning in 1971. I have a B.A. in English and history with a minor in education and an M.Ed. in reading with a minor in curriculum. I became a Reading Specialist when I realized that many high school students were struggling due to lack of reading skills which affected their success in many areas. I have also worked with many students individually and assisted a number of home schooling families. Every student has a unique set of abilities and challenges. Since not everyone learns the same way, I see the key to academic success in determining each person's most effective methods of learning.
