I am an exciting career professional with 18 years of experience in the educational field. My main focus has been in the middle school setting but I have also taught in high schools and have tutored elementary students. I feel strongly that the learning experience should be fun, linked to life and have an emotional component that helps to anchor the information. I have been teaching students with special needs (Learning Differences, Autism, Intellectual and Emotional Differences) and tutoring youth and adults for many years. I am also a certified middle school science teacher. I enjoy providing a variety of techniques and methods to help students understand and grasp information in a way that best suits their learning style. I believe that I can focus on a person's specific needs within a short time of meeting them. I find that humor plays well in the learning mode and often use this to have students feel comfortable in the learning setting. I am flexible and always like to research new modalities of instruction to help students become successful.
