Hello, my name is Jeremy, and I'm here to offer my assistance to students in northern Colorado who need help with academic writing assignments. I am experienced with many levels of academic writing, so whether you're the concerned parent of a seventh grader or a college senior struggling with a term paper for an upper-division course, I can help you out.
My qualifications as an academic writer are extensive. As a university student I completed many upper-division liberal arts courses, virtually all of which required several academic papers. Because I majored in Philosophy, most of these papers were on very technical subjects that demanded both a rigorous attention to detail and a nuanced consideration of the material. Despite these challenges, however, I graduated with a GPA of roughly 4.25, receiving no grade lower than an "A" in any course, and earning an "A+" grade (equivalent to 97% or above) in the majority of my classes. In addition, I was complimented on my writing ability by many of my professors, a few of whom posted my papers as exemplars for the rest of the class.
I also bring to the table much experience as a tutor. Throughout my undergraduate education, I worked with my peers to help them produce quality papers and refine their own writing talents, both as compensated part-time work and as a favor to close friends. I helped clients who had been C students receive A and B grades on challenging assignments, and assisted students at risk of failing in passing difficult classes by a comfortable margin. Most importantly, I always ensured that my clients produced everything organically and in their own words. By focusing above all on the general processes of effective writing, I made certain that my clients grew progressively comfortable producing quality papers on their own, and knew perfectly well the steps they needed to take in order to progress further.
My tutoring philosophy is predicated on the notion that different personalities require different teaching methods to excel as writers. As a middle school and high school student, I observed many perfectly bright students underachieving because of instructional failure inevitable in a system where individual attention is so scarce. As a university student, meanwhile, I observed the logical result of this system: naturally talented students overwhelmed by their writing assignments because they hadn't received enough personalized coaching earlier in life. Because of these experiences, I am willing to work with different types of students in ways that make them comfortable and build upon their natural strengths. To my mind, there can be nothing standardized about effective tutoring; if a student needs help, his or her tutor's first instinct should be to approach them respectfully and as an individual, and communicate effectively with them so as to discover what they need in order to perform and how to help them obtain it.
In keeping with this approach, I can offer many different types of services. If you or your child need high-level, long-term assistance in things such as proper study skills and research methods, brainstorming and organization, vocabulary, or grammar and style, we can meet on a weekly or monthly basis for targeted coaching along specific trajectories. Alternatively, if you need short-term assistance with a specific assignment, such as organizational advice or proofreading, we can set up a single long meeting or a few short meetings scheduled close together, and I could help you with every step of the writing process. As mentioned above, I am highly flexible and am willing to schedule appointments in whatever way will help you achieve academic excellence.
Many thanks for viewing my profile--I would very much enjoy working with you!
