Hello. I’m Maurice. I am a near-native French speaker who lived in French-speaking country for 15 years before moving to the United States. I am currently double majoring in French and Business Administration with an emphasis in Computer Information Systems along with a minor in global business. I will be graduating in May 2013 and visiting France under a study abroad program the semester prior to my graduation. I am outgoing, and I love martial arts and reading. As some might know, French is the second-most studied language in the world after English but many believe it is difficult to learn. I am here to help them think otherwise and get them to be excited about learning it by using fun and creative tutoring techniques because there are several methods for learning a language. I have extensive experience translating texts from French to English and from English to French, as well as helping other college students that are majoring in French understand the material. I turned down a tutoring job on campus due to schedule conflicts, but I would be happy to provide recommendations from my professors if needed.
I am also passionate about technology and computers to be more specific. I consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to “geeky” technology related questions concerning software and hardware and I am also a web developer. I am proficient in HTML language at the moment and I am currently learning PHP and ColdFusion in addition to two programming languages. I love using Adobe Dreamweaver and I know my way around it. My current campus job consist of maintaining our college’s website and helping students in web design classes when they are encountering issues.
I always bring passion to the table and I hope to instill that same passion in my potential students. I believe that teaching is also a learning process for the instructor so I’m always open-minded. I also believe that with a good energy, a positive attitude, and the right tutor, anyone can do anything.
