My name is Leo. I graduated from St. Petersburg University, Russia, Department of Mathematics and Mechanics.
I have two PhDs. One is in Mathematics and Physics, the other one is in Earth Sciences and Geophysics. I have publications in peer reviewed international journals. I have experience in teaching Physics, Astronomy, Elementary Statistics and different levels of Math (Algebra, Calculus, Trig) US college students, as well in Russia and China.
As a specialist in applied sciences, in my teaching and tutoring, I focus, first of all, on UNDERSTANDING concepts and problems. To make student(s) understand a problem, or concept, I give them examples and analogies from an adjacent fields of knowledge, ask them to find. As soon as understanding is achieved, we proceed to solving problems form simple to more complex ones. I always give students ALGORITHMS, and outline STEPS in solving problems.
I understand that a friendly atmosphere of communication between Student and Tutor is very important for success in learning new materials and developing Student's potential.
