I am a university student in chemical engineering, so I have to know quite a bit of math and science for me to do well in this major! I am extremely passionate about math and science (especially chemistry in science, but I enjoy biology as well), and although I am not studying it, I am quite good at and love history, writing, and reading. I especially adore English grammar - in fact, I proofread scientific research papers before they are sent to scientific journals for publication quite regularly.
I have a fantastic academic record. I currently hold a 3.85 GPA in my university with a 4.0 major GPA. I also earned a 4.0 GPA in my college preparatory high school, and I graduated as valedictorian. I definitely fully understand every single subject I tutor.
I tutored many students through high school - teachers and school counselors would often ask me to tutor some of their struggling students, particularly those that were struggling with basic math skills and therefore couldn't keep up with algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus. I also tutored a lot of other students for Advanced Placement (AP) and the SAT/ACT exams. As you can see, I am very highly qualified and have a lot of experience in tutoring.
My basic approach to tutoring is to see why you are struggling. For most students, it is because they aren't quite up to scratch in fundamentals, and if that is the case I will focus on solidifying those with you. After that, I will work on the problems that not understanding fundamentals caused. If your fundamentals aren't the problem, usually a student doesn't understand something because it hasn't been explained in a way that they can understand, so I will do my best to find a way to best explain them to you. This method has worked with every single student I have tutored. I will NOT do your homework for you - I will simply try to help you learn enough so that you can complete it and, more importantly, understand it on your own.
I truly hope that you consider me for tutoring - I will do the absolute best job I can to help you succeed in your academic difficulties. There is nothing more that I enjoy than helping a struggling student.
I just finished a very rigorous differential equations course at my university, earning an A in the process. Although it is a complicated subject, I understand the material quite well and have already helped quite a few students learn the material. I also use the math involved for some of my other classes, so it is not material I will forget.
I earned a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition examination two years ago and also earned an A in the corresponding class as well as all other English and history subjects in high school. I frequently write scientific papers for publication, and I also proofread my research team's work before it is submitted. I know the rules of English grammar quite well, and I am very good at structuring and expressing my thoughts in a coherent manner.
I took private flute lessons for eight straight years. In that time, I won every local flute competition for five years by playing extremely difficult flute literature. I was also a member of a local student orchestra for five years, and I managed to make the top level of the orchestra in that time. I played in my elementary and middle school band and participated in marching band as well as the school band in high school. I have also taught several friends how to play the flute. My forte is teaching good, basic flute techniques that aren't necessarily taught in a band setting, where most beginning flute students learn.
I have always been fascinated by the countries of the world, and from kindergarten to fifth grade, I had to memorize the location of every single country in the world. I remember everything except some of the smaller countries like St. Kitts and Nevis.
I earned a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition examination two years ago, which includes an extensive grammar and proofreading section. I also earned an A in the writing heavy classes in high school - English, math, and science. I frequently write scientific papers for publication, and I also proofread my research team's work before it is submitted. To do/have done all of this, I have to know English grammar quite well.
I graduated from high school with a 4.0 GPA in a college preparatory curriculum, so I have covered all the material necessary to pass a GED. In addition, I have tutored many students in every major subject area - math, science, history, and English - and all of them have succeeded in improving their understanding of the material as well as their grades.
I have used Microsoft Word ever since I was seven years old, when I was learning how to type. I am familiar with all of the editions since then - I currently use Microsoft Word 2010, which is not too different from Microsoft Word 2007. I am also very familiar with Microsoft Word 2003 and the ones before that with the .doc system as opposed to the .docx.
I have taken both semesters of organic chemistry at the university level, and I earned an A in both semesters. I understand and enjoy the material quite well, and I have already tutored two other students in the subject materials. In addition, in my research lab, I have to use my knowledge from organic chemistry every day whenever I devise and test new methods to synthesize palladium nanoparticles.
I took private lessons for eleven years in piano and got quite proficient in it. I also won a local award for piano playing under my instructor six years in a row. I can definitely teach piano as I still play on a regular basis, and I have also taught several friends over the years.
I sang in a choir for three years in high school and am currently in one for college. I have also been a part of a church choir since I was five years old, and I took voice lessons for three years until my voice instructor died and there wasn't another one in the area.
Got her through AP Calculus — A.P. worked with our daughter to get her through her high school senior year in AP Calculus. They spent a lot of time together, including occasional evening phone calls to help with homework. A.P. did a great job! Our daughter scored a 5 on the AP exam. ...
