My name is Lauren. Welcome to my WyzAnt profile!
I recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in English and minors in editing and Spanish. From my work in my classes and on a school magazine I have extensive experience in writing, editing, and proofreading, and I love working with others in theses areas. My classmates and I did a lot of peer editing, and I am very comfortable in patiently helping others (any age!) to improve their grammar, spelling, reading, and writing. I have taught conversation-based ESL classes to Spanish speakers and Korean speakers. My students loved that the classes were fun and interactive.
I also worked for two years as a Spanish teacher and tutor. I taught classes of 10–14 students and tutored one-on-one to help young adults improve their grammar and fluency. Tutoring sessions were directed towards each student's specific needs, and I saw great improvement in each student. A portion of my tutoring was also spent teaching students how to set goals, plan their study times, and how to use different study methods. This past summer, I also tutored elementary school children in Spanish. One of the children was uninterested in learning the language, but through games and creative study methods I was able to help him enjoy learning and after a few weeks he had mastered several basic Spanish concepts.
