Most recently I have been helping my youngest son as a learning coach/mentor with COVA in grades 5 thru 7. He has successfully tested at the advanced proficiency level in all subjects. My older son maintains a great college GPA here in Colorado. Our entire family has a love of learning. I, myself, particularly love the English language, writing and literature.
Graduating with honors in English I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in May, 1995 from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. My minor in computer science from UALR's College of Applied Science, did successfully challenge me and had an impact on my GPA, resulting in a final 3.2. Drawing from this personal experience makes me very empathetic with the challenges of struggling in a specific subject, but not giving up!
I have 30 years' professional work experience, which afforded me the opportunity to gain advanced communication skills and complete major dispute resolutions.
In my youth I was awarded the rank of First Class Girl Scout (Eagle BS equivalent) which has led to my currently volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America. My work with this great organization is going into its 7th year now, and I am still active in various leadership capacities and continue training. So not only do I like working with kids, I keep updated in related educational training techniques. One particularly relevant course is the required Youth Protection Training by the National BSA organization, which I keep current and refresh annually.
