I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree in 2011 with a 3.97 GPA and self-published my first novel, Hela's Story, in February 2012. I have experience teaching one-on-one with siblings, friends, and co-workers, in a classroom setting as an Army medic teaching Combat Life Savers classes, and online through email, a website, and message forum. I enjoy helping others and love to see the joy of passing an important test, receiving a great grade on an assignment, and the excitement of having a piece of writing published.

I became interested in tutoring as a result of the failing of our youth to learn proper grammar and spelling. Many cognitive skills have fallen flat as a result of not correcting text-speak writing and spelling early on. Improving English reading, writing, and grammar helps to improve the future of our communities and our children. Aside from these subjects, I also enjoy teaching others how to operate software, pass standardized tests, and get through the tough spots in any subject area.

American History

I struggled with history as a young child. However, I found that when I could connect historical facts with ideas, concepts, and objects I took interest in, real learning took place. Ever since, my knowledge of history has continued to expand. Not only can I assist with teaching the material found in American History classes and tests but also in finding what interests can help to make the information stick for you.

Biology

My experience in biology began with the basics as taught in middle and high school curriculum. Although my medical training contain only partial lessons found in biology, my undergraduate psychology studies provided a strong basis in the biological components and functions in relation to human psychological processes. I can assist with understanding the basics of biology as well as a more in-depth understanding from a psychology perspective.

Grammar

When text-speak is taught as the norm, grammar suffers. Companies change their logos to abbreviate words and the proper use of capitalization, spelling, and punctuation is disregarded. Individuals who pride themselves on their writing skills fail to recognize their use of misspelled words, such as "thru" instead of the proper "through." Commas, semi-colons, and periods are used incorrectly if at all. Even the most proficient of writers catch themselves falling into these common mistakes.
