My desire to learn and teach science has remained constant over the years. As a result, I know that my extensive teaching background and passion for math and the sciences would make me an excellent candidate as your tutor.
Following my graduation from UCSD (BS in Physiology and Neuroscience) with top honors of Summa Cum Laude (top 1% with a GPA of 3.948), I gained extensive knowledge in the fields of biology and math.
During my undergraduate years in college, I mastered math and biology classes receiving more A+ than A's. I also spent my time as a teacher's assistant for 3 biology courses covering metabolic biochemistry, basic biology (BILD 2), and mammalian physiology.
After UCSD, I worked for a top test preparatory company for 2 years. I received over 100hrs of training so that I could teach the following classes: ACT, SAT, GRE, GMAT, and MCAT. Over the years, I have developed my own test taking strategies that have proven to be very successful.
I recently graduated from CSU with a Master's in Biomedical Science, graduating in the top of my class with a GPA of 4.00. During this program, I spent time as a teacher's assistant for a human anatomy course and worked in a research lab on campus.
I know that my success in college and many years of teaching experience illustrate my thorough experience, passion, organizational skills, and knowledge for the sciences and teaching.
I taught the Biology section of the MCAT for a national test prep agency for over 1 year. I had 30+ hours of training to prepare me for my Biology MCAT classes. In order to teach for this agency I had to score at least a 13 on the Biology section, which I did.
I took a human nutrition class as an undergraduate at UC San Diego and received an A in the class. I also took a graduate mammalian physiology class that thoroughly covered the physiology portion of nutrition and received an A in the class.
With 10+ years of tutoring under my belt, along with my own experience in college, I have learned many successful study skills that are applicable to all classes. On top of that, I also worked for a national test prep agency where I was certified to teach: GRE, GMAT, ACT, SAT, and the Biology section of the MCAT. I have over 100 hours of training with this agency. The training taught me study skills for all types of subjects, tests, and learning styles.
Great Tutor — Megan is an amazing tutor! My daughter was struggling in math and science. Megan helped her understand and feel more comfortable with the two subjects and by the end of the school year she was excelling in both. During parent-teacher conferences, her teachers even told me that they were impressed by her improvements. I will definitely be sending my other daughter to see Megan. ...
