The desire to create and appreciate art is something (mostly) unique to man. It can be a means to enrich the lives of not only the artist but also those who view what is made. It can be a profession. It is a great tool to build sense of self, sometimes helping those who have suffered in various ways trauma, including PTSD.
I am a practicing artist with excellent formal training. I graduated from the University of Illinois in Fine Arts and as a member of Phi Kappa Phi, their top honor society. Previous to that, I graduated from another two year art school. I have won numerous art competitions and have participated in one man and group shows.
I also have strong foundation in art history, mostly 19th and 20thC art.
My media is that of classical drawing, and pastel and paint. I sometimes use Photoshop in my art whether it is the main method to create a work, or as a tool used as part of a project, as with some illustrative work that I do.
I have an interest in teaching art to others.
