As a writing consultant at the University of Denver, I tutored students across a variety of writing genres and techniques; providing one-on-one support for students ranging from first-year undergraduates to PhD students.

I also worked as a teaching assistant for ESL writing classes. I helped students of diverse backgrounds find their footing in the complicated world of English writing.

I very much enjoyed both of these jobs, especially getting to know my students, tackling challenging problems together, and seeing the wonderful improvements at the end.

When it comes to issues of structure or content, I focus on empowering the student to find an answer, rather than telling them a solution. In cases of basic grammar difficulties, I like to review the issue and then challenge the student to locate similar places later in the paper, assisting wherever necessary.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cello

I have been playing cello for 11 years, having taken private lessons in high school and college.

I currently play in a musical duo and we have performed over 80 live shows in the Denver area.

I have experience teaching cello to elementary age children.
