University of Southern California (Mathematics)
My name is Kevin, and I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics from the University of Southern California (USC). I was a member of the Pi Mu Epsilon Math Honors Society at USC. Since receiving my degree, I have continued my education in mathematics by completing the Probability, Financial Mathematics, and Mathematical Financial Economics Society of Actuaries exams. While I was a student in college, I ran a successful math tutoring company and tutored high school and college students in Algebra 1/2, Geometry, Statistics, Probability, Calculus, and SAT Math 1/2C. Greater than 95% of my students increased their scores by at least 1 letter grade. I achieved this success rate by following up with students and ensuring that they understood the math as opposed to memorizing answers.
I appreciate your time and consideration.

Kevin was able to meet with me when I was available, and was willing to meet where it was easy for both of us. I have never met with a tutor prior to this, but I know that Kevin is what anyone would want as a tutor! He explains how to find the answer well and will repeat it as many times as need. You can tell he cares about you understanding the information and wants you to get the best grade that you can! I don't think I could as for anything more in a private tutor. Thanks Kevin!
My son's first session with Kevin was excellent. My son said Kevin responded to each question he had and explained things in a way he could understand. In one session, my son's confidence has grown which is great to see and he is looking forward to future sessions.
We met with Kevin and he worked with our twin sons. They both feel that they will benefit from his services. This was our first time using a tutor, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.
Just during the first lesson, Kevin was able to help my son in math, teaching him an important concept in a clear and easy to understand way. Also he was able to identify the problems that my son has and was able to give him confidence that these problems can be worked on and overcome. We are impressed!
Kevin did a good job teacher my son. He worked quickly through his homework getting two assignments completed in one session. My son liked that Kevin kept his attention through the work.
Kevin is very patient and thorough with my 15 year old son. There has already been much improvement after just two sessions. Highly recommend.
I had a great time tutoring with Kevin, we cut right to the chase on my chemistry. We went over a lot of concepts I did not completely understand and he quickly took the initiative to make me understand every way possible of what was going on and doing various problems myself to make sure I had what we learned down. I found his techniques to be very helpful and understanding. Also, was great with communicating about appointment times and very punctual. I would highly recommend this tutor!
Kevin helped me grasp difficult probabilistic concepts (Poisson Processes) with clear explanations in terms I understood and straight forward examples.
So many great things to say about Kevin! Our son was really struggling in trig and needed help right away (over the weekend) before a big test on Monday that was going to dictate a great percentage of his grade. Kevin re-arranged his whole schedule over the weekend to make sure our son was taken care of.
He ended up with a high C on the test, next quiz got a 100% and got a 92.9% on his homework packet. Kevin was very personable and we really enjoyed having him around our family! We will be keeping him on speed dial.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I successfully completed three Society of Actuaries (Probability P/1, Financial Mathematics FM/2, Models for Financial Economics MFE/3F). I have also fulfilled the VEE Requirements for Statistics (Time Series & Regression Analysis), Economics (Micro & Macro), and Corporate Finance.
I Received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics from the University of Southern California, where this course was part of the core curriculum. I continued my education in Mathematics by studying to be an actuary, where the principles of this course continue to be used.
I received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California and was on the Dean's List. I currently teach all levels of math and science, ACT, and study skills at a learning center. I have passed 3 Society of Actuaries board exams, which required me to study for 400+ hours per exam.
