I am a veteran Latin teacher for grades 3-6 and high school. I have taught in core knowledge schools (the Classical Academy and Rocky Mountain Classical Academy--both in Colorado Springs--and at Doherty High School.) I have a passion for my subject and try to engender a love of Latin and how it relates to English. Depending on the age of the student, I teach to four strands: vocabulary and grammar, derivatives, history and culture and translation. My students learn to love Latin and sometimes mistakenly call me Mrs. Latin instead of using my name. It works. I require students to keep a notebook for my handouts and note taking. I have written my own curriculum for grades 3-5 with the emphasis on enlarging their English vocabulary.
