I've been teaching and tutoring in Colorado for many years; teaching at Colorado State University and the University of Denver as well as tutoring with nationwide tutoring agencies. Teaching is my passion and I excel at one-on-one tutoring.
I'm not the typical "homework helper." My approach to one-on-one tutoring is to guide my students with acquiring content skills as well as help them develop the confidence they need to succeed. I listen carefully to my students and work with them to devise strategies that work for them. Every student is unique and every session is personalized depending on where the student is at during that session.
With Math, Physics and Chemistry tutoring, my students learn to appreciate real-world applications of the concepts they grapple with making learning fun and relevant. What may appear to be a complicated problem at first, quickly becomes something quite easy to solve, much to the relief of my students!
Many parents have asked if I would work with their children to challenge and reignite their sense of curiosity and wonder of the world they live in. My students and I have worked on quantum mechanics, Einstein's theory of special relativity, biotechnology and a myriad of other student driven projects. They become active learners, guiding each session with their own curiosity and questions. Most importantly, they learn how to learn, a key skill to have in today's rapidly changing work environments.

What parents are saying about me:
“You have turned around my daughter's abilities in math and I believe in addition to your math and related knowledge you have a gift for instilling confidence. That is so, so unique!” - Diana B., CO
"Nazli is a quiet wonder. She has the gift of instilling calm and confidence in her students. My son used her for Chemistry. She not only helped him pass this class with a solid B, but helped him enjoy it. As a result, I believe he will retain more of the information. If my son had not worked with Nazli, I believe he would have had very different "chemistry" experience." LJ - Denver
"Nazli helped me with SAT prep. She kept me calm and focused. I was really pleased with my test results and so were my parents." RJ - Denver
“Our son started working with Nazli this past June (2011) with the goal of increasing his starting ACT score of 25 as much as possible in order to apply to some very prestigious universities. During the 3 months we worked with her, she was always on time, very prepared, positive, patient, and knew exactly what skills to teach. The end result was a 6 point increase on the September ACT (a composite score of 31). We were thrilled since this puts our son into an entirely different category of applicants. I would not hesitate to recommend Nazli to any family. Thank you for everything you have done for Lane." – Shawna F., Denver, CO
"Nazli N. has been a wonderful tutor for my son and my daughter. My son is a current 12th grader and he studied for the PSAT and SAT with Nazli last year. As a result of his PSAT score he is presently a National Merit a semi Finalist. He took the SAT only once and achieved his goal of a perfect math score. His overall scores was 2300. He was recently admitted to his first choice school, Princeton University. My 11th grade daughter is currently studying with Nazli. She just got her PSAT scores and she has the exact same overall score as her brother which should result in National Merit Scholar recognition. We are still studying for the SAT but Nazli's calm steady confident manner is infectious and perfect for the task of preparing students to successfully master the exam. We can't thank her enough!!" - AJ Jones, CO

My approach with the English section of the ACT is 2-fold: 1) Thorough review of the language's syntax and structure; 2) Test taking strategies. Each student has unique needs. I ask my students to take a practice test to determine baseline scores. From there, we work together to develop a custom tutoring plan that consists of concept review and test-taking strategies tailored to the student. To gain mastery of new skills learned, I encourage my students to practice via assigned homework. I also provide my student's with resources to facilitate the learning process. My students typically do very well with scores in the 30's.

I focus on test taking strategy development for the Science section of the test. Each student has unique needs. I ask my students to take a practice test to determine baseline scores. From there, we work together to develop a custom tutoring plan that consists of strategy development based on the student's needs. Many students struggle with running out of time on this section of the test. I've seen that once we develop effective strategies and students gain mastery of these strategies through lots of practice, students typically see a dramatic increase in their science scores!
