My name is Rick and I would LOVE to help your student achieve beyond your aspirations both in and out of the classroom! I look at tutoring as an opportunity to join an already established team of educators in your child's life, and am confident in my abilities to reach my students in challenging yet rewarding ways.
As a professional actor, I have been seen on stages all over the USA and Europe including being a Guest Artist at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in 1994 and 1996. I am a member of Actor's Equity Association and the American Federation Of Television and Radio Artists. I was a 10-year member of the acting company at Stage One, Theatre for Youth in Louisville, Kentucky where I performed onstage in over 5000 performances. I have also directed professional productions with both youth and adult casts, and have seen my play, "Two Equals One," produced in 2000.
I have earned both a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Professional Theatre Training Program (3.96 GPA), and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Seattle Pacific University (3.98 GPA) where I became a licensed Secondary Teacher with State Endorsements in Secondary Language Arts and Secondary Theatre.
I taught as a member of the Faculty at Kentucky's Governor's School for the Arts from 2000 to 2006 and have tutored individually for over 15 years.
I believe in the extraordinary power of student-centered instruction and have seen personally the direct and indirect cognitive benefits of one-on-one learning. I believe that, just as student's inherently desire to learn at school, so too do teachers inherently desire to connect with our students. Tutoring allows the opportunity for student/instructor connection in ways that no classroom can provide.
I am a Denver native who loves being back home and living in beautiful Colorado again! I hope you will consider allowing me to help your student achieve in any way I can.
