Linux+ certification 2010
Worked with DOS, Unix systems and hardware 4 years.
Took classes at Community College of Denver in Basic, FORTAN, and Assembly language. Took classes at Community College of Aurora in DOS and UNIX.
I have 4 years maintenance experience on mini-computers and PC's. I have used mini-computers and PC's using Windows, DOS, UNIX and Linux operating systems for over 20 years. Did computer programing in Basic,Fortran, and Assembly language. I took a mini-computer maint class in 1975 on a mini-computer (before advent of microprocessors)that had several circuit boards in the processor unit, so I have an in-depth knowledge of the various functions such as logic unit, arithmetic unit, addressing, and I/O. Took a couple of microprocessor classes.
I have used Linux since 2000, and worked with Linux on the job until I retired in 2006. I have since studied Linux to get a certification. Before I used Unix since 1988, I had written shell scripts. I have Suse and Fedora distributions loaded on my computer.
Certifications: Convergence+, CCNA, Security+,and Network+
I have studied for all of these certification on my own by buying several books on the subjects.
I have some ideas on how to make understanding some of the principles of networking easier, like understanding sub-netting without memorizing a bunch of formulas that you will forget in a few weeks. I can show the relationship between layer 2(Ethernet) and layer 3(ip) on a computer connected to the internet.
I have used Unix since 1988, and worked in a data center where Unix was the operating system. I have written shell scripts, in AWK and Sed. I have used Linux in my job since 2000, before retiring.
I am now studying Linux for a certification.
