My name is Stephanie and I am excited to become a part of your child's learning experience.
Right now I am studying Elementary Education at Fort Lewis College. Upon graduating from graduate school, I hope to become a 4th or 5th grade teacher. I am good at working with children in Elementary School (tutoring all elementary subjects), but also enjoy working with other kids. With Middle and High School students I teach beginning math subjects (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, and Geometry), Literature, and Writing (Proofreading, aiding in building outlines, battling writers block, etc.).
As an Elementary Education major, I have worked in 5th grade classrooms building lesson plans and worksheets, as well as teaching state objectives. In addition, as a high school student I tutored Pre-Algebra and Algebra II. Also in High School, I volunteered with the English Department to teach students basic writing skills.
I believe patients and dedication is the best way to receive good results when teaching. As a teacher, I explain the theory (practically and theoretically), demonstrate how to put the theory into practice, then give the student a chance to apply the theory. I do not give students answers, but make them work to understand the concept being taught.
I hope to begin working with you soon.
