I have a bachelor of science in anthropology from the University of Utah, with a minor in integrative human biology. My program had a focus in human evolutionary history and ecology. I will start my master's degree at Colorado State University in August researching Neanderthal dietary ecology. My hope is to research diet, using stable isotopes, and disease, using osteological methods and ancient DNA, alongside climate changes in ancient Scandanavian populations. I hope to shed light on the dynamics that have contributed to autoimmune disease prevalence in this region today, including Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and more.

I spent the past year teaching 9th grade math intervention at Denver Center for International Studies at Montbello. I have experience with Common Core and creating differentiated, conceptual curriculum, highly tailored to individual needs. During my year at DCIS, I provided support for algebra 1 and 2, and some geometry. In addition, I have also tutored algebra and writing separately since February of 2014. Most of my writing tutoring consists of proofreading and editing papers with college and high school students.

Thanks for looking over my profile, and I look forward to working with you if you decide we are a good match to meet your academic goals!

Algebra 1

I spent 1 year teaching 9th grade math intervention at Denver Center for International Studies at Montbello. This entailed fundamental math skills for half of each class period and algebra 1 course material for the second half. Through this experience, I am accustomed to teaching within the Common Core Algebra 1 standards framework.

Algebra 2

While I worked at DCIS at Montbello, I assisted in the Saturday School program for Algebra 2 students who were falling behind in their coursework. I also pushed several of my advanced 9th graders into learning Algebra 2 material. I have also tutored Algebra 2 for the past 5 months.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Anthropology, with an emphasis in Biological Anthropology, from the University of Utah. I have experience with osteology, game theory, stable isotopes to inform dietary ecology, human biology (evolution, adaptations, modern variation, and physiology), and population genetics. I also have experience in demographic methods, GIS (ArcGIS in particular), and some knowledge of medical anthropology.

I worked in my university's zooarchaeology lab, preparing animal carcasses to be cataloged and stored, used human and animal osteology to identify contents at site digs. I also spent time working the school's stable isotope lab, preparing collagen samples from an Aleutian Island dig in order to understand the population's diet.

I have a minor in Integrative Human Biology from the University of Utah. In order to obtain this qualification, I had to complete coursework in physiology, general biology, human biology, osteology, and genetics. Though these courses required a C+ or better, I consistently obtained A and A- grades in the subjects.

I completed 12 credit hours of coursework in ecology-related classes in college. My Master's degree focus is ancient dietary and disease ecology, specifically in Neanderthal populations. The data I work with is climate, evolutionary, dietary, and genetic, and I must look at all the factors together, as well as account for any other factors that may arise, in order to understand autoimmune disease prevalence in Neanderthal remains.
