Hello prospective students and parents! My name is Roxanne, and I would like to tell you a few things about myself that may help you decide if I am the right tutor for you. I am a senior at the University of Colorado Denver, set to graduate next spring and currently working on the requirements necessary to apply for graduate school while finishing up the remaining classes needed for an undergraduate bachelors degree in Biology (major)/Chemistry (minor).
Science is certainly not my only area of interest (although admittedly it is my first love); I also specialize in reading comprehension, writing skills including spelling/grammar/punctuation, and I have had experience in pedagogy involving special needs students. However I must stress, if you need to know the difference between diffusion & osmosis or mitosis and meiosis then I'm definitely your gal!
I also happen to be very laid back, that being said if you're looking for more rigid standards of instructing I do not offer that. What I do offer is a fun and interactive approach to teaching more difficult to grasp concepts in an encouraging and patient environment.

I have two years of education on anatomy/physiology including advanced anatomy that included unassisted dissection of cadavers. I have witnessed a full autopsy & numerous dissections in academic settings.

I am an avid amateur astronomy enthusiast and have been looking to the heavens since as long as I can recall. I have two years formal academic training with knowledge from cosmology to algebra based physics equations. I also own a computerized telescope I would be more than happy to take someone sight seeing with.

I have been studying biology for over 15 years and have a strong grasp of not only general biological processes but also knowledge of how these things work for other vertebrates. For example, did you know alligator sex is determined by the temperature soil the eggs are laid in? Or that a bird has a completely different way of breathing than a human? Have you always wanted to know how vision works for different animals? They don't call it "eagle eye" for nothing!

I love biology-let me help you love it too!

My father taught me to play chess when I was quite young. When he grew tired of me beating him all the time he bought me a computer version and my true passion for the game took off from there. When I was in middle school I competed in speed competitions, which were quite difficult! Admittedly I do not play as often as I would like but I would love to teach someone and perhaps find a new playing partner in the process.
