My interest in tutoring comes from my desire to eventually be a full time teacher. I earned my BA from Wheaton College where I studied Community Art. I have taught several art classes to a variety of students in a variety of environments. I taught arts and crafts to elementary students during a summer program with The Salvation Army, I taught photography to high school students in a leadership training program, as well as adults in a community center.
I specialize in tutoring art, photography especially. I encourage students to think creatively and to find more than one solution to a problem or assignment. I create a safe space for the students to take risks in their work and get out of their comfort zone. I believe art should be enjoyed and therefore strive to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I encourage and challenge during scheduled critiques and provide authentic assessment as we go.
I expect my students to take their tutoring seriously and work hard to improve their skills. I expect students and parents to be honest with me about my work as a tutor and am willing and wanting open communication about student and parent satisfaction.
Thank you for considering me as your tutor and I look forward to creating with you!
