I am a College Reading
and Learning Association certified tutor and I have been tutoring students for over 10 years. I have tutored a wide range of people from those who are just learning to read and write to adults reading and writing
at the college level. I have worked with English
as a Second Language
students as well as students with developmental disabilities. I have taught developmental reading courses and study skill courses at the community college level for 7 years. I also have experience in successfully completing courses at the college level in Biology
where I can offer my expertise in helping students to succeed in these subjects.
I specialize in helping students with being able to read and follow instructions from teacher handouts, lecture notes and textbooks. I also have helped students learn to use strategies for test preparation
, which includes using index cards, software applications, identifying preferred learning techniques and developing time management
skills. Most importantly, my job as a tutor is to help students find and use the available information they have so they can learn how to complete the work on their own.
During our first meeting, I will work to identify what goals or learning objectives you want to reach and how I can best help you to reach them. This first consultation meeting is free and you are not obligated to choose me as a tutor if you are not satisfied.
If you cannot make it to a tutoring session, or if you need to cancel the session, you must notify me no less than 3 hours before the session. Otherwise, my hourly tutoring fee will apply.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies.
