A love of learning motivates me to teach and to share that love with all of my students. I work to create a learning experience that meets each student where they are in their learning process and supports them to progress, explore, and achieve success academically, socially, artistically and emotionally. Mine is a whole person, inquiry based, hands-on, experiential approach to learning. My primary task is to facilitate student growth by challenging students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and active questioners. I am always a student learning how to best meet my students’ needs. If a student is not finding success then it is my cue to examine my instruction and reach for another strategy.

I have been both a classroom teacher and a private tutor for over twenty years because I love it. I hold a current professional teaching license for elementary, however, I have taught students from Kindergarten to 11th grade and my specialty is the Language Arts. In addition to teaching reading and writing at all grade levels from Kindergarten to the 11th grade I have worked for the last five years in a bilingual school in Cambodia. I hold a Master's degree as a school counselor and have worked in that capacity with students from ages of 4 to 18 and am happy to offer support services in this arena as well.

I am happy to travel to your home to work with students or I have also found that reserving a study booth at the local library is a helpful place to work. One of my specialties is helping students to build good study habits and, therefore, I am quite flexible in accommodating work locations.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in your learning process!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I hold a current Colorado Professional Teaching license for K-6 grades and have taught all these grades in all subjects. A review from one of my previous students:

“Ms. G. is one of the best and most outstanding teachers at the East West International School. She is full of enthusiasm and is a hard working person. Because of her enthusiasm and kindness, I have hired her to teach both of my sons (grade 1 & 3) at home as a tutor after school.”
