Hello, my name is Arnaud, I have been teaching language and other things most of my life. I had such a bad experience learning foreign languages when I was in school that it drove me to provide a better way for students to learn. I graduated from University of Denver awhile ago, and I became a Spanish teacher at a small private school in Wheatridge that is now closed. I also taught French with Berlitz School of language in Denver. I also teach Scuba diving. You could say I am drawn to teaching.
What I try to do when I teach a language is to ease the fear that you cannot make a mistake when speaking and/or writing it. I also conduct as much of the class in the language desired as I can, because I believe translation of the words will slow down the learning process. I will not hesitate to use body language and facial expressions to clarify the context of the word at hand. If it means making a fool out myself, I will not hesitate to do it.
To learn a language you must speak it, so I first concentrate on the oral pronunciation, building a base of vocabulary while slowly building up the grammatical format. I will adapt the vocabulary to an individual need for areas of interest. Writing and spelling are reinforced by the notes given during the lessons and are needed for the reviews between lessons.
I am able to teach all ages. I am fluent in French and able to teach from beginning to advanced conversation level. I can teach beginning spanish. My accent in French is neutral; this means it is somewhere between a Parisian and southern location. My accent in Spanish is Mexican, not from Spain.
Learning a language should be fun, and I strive for that since people remember more easily when they are having fun.
If you need more information don't hesitate to contact me.
Merci, Gracias, and Thank you.
