I have taught for many years and have cherished my time within the classroom. I love greeting my students each day at my classroom door and welcoming them in to a day filled with adventure. Each student brings their own personality, strengths and weaknesses. My job is to make each individual feel comfortable to ask questions, discover how they learn best, become a little bit more of the person they will ultimately become and most importantly, walk out of my classroom more confident and ready to come back again.
Tutoring is a completely different entity and one that I find is my true passion. Throughout my days in the classroom, I would find myself constantly feeling guilty for not giving one or more students more of my time, more of my smiles and more of my encouragement. I had a fixed amount of time with over 150 students each day that had 150 different backgrounds, personalities and learning styles that I needed to accommodate.
I started tutoring very early on in my career and have never been able to give it up. The ability to focus all my energy on one student at a time, connect with that child and learn their goals, insecurities and all they are carrying in their 'backpack', besides their homework, is truly what makes me my happiest. Each child teaches me more about myself and how I can ultimately better help those in the future.
My job is to find how your child learns best, teach them 'real-life' processes, encourage them and remind them how awesome they are. So when they enter their classrooms the following day, they have more confidence in who they are, how they learn and how to accomplish their goals.
