Differential Equations

In June 2013 I completed a Bachelor of Science in physics from University of California, Santa Barbara. The required math courses for this degree included three quarters of differential equations and linear algebra, all of which I completed with outstanding grades. As a physics student, I solved differential equations on a daily basis (and will continue to do so throughout my career). Understanding differential equations and how to solve them is an important skill set necessary for success in most math and science subjects. When tutoring students in differential equations, I will begin with first order equations and help the student develop the skills to find solutions using integration and separation of variables. The next steps will be second order equations, and systems of equations. I have a lot of experience with many concepts related to differential equations, and can help students develop a stronger understanding of them.

Linear Algebra

In June 2013 I completed a Bachelor of Science in physics from University of California, Santa Barbara. The required math courses for this degree included three quarters of differential equations and linear algebra, all of which I completed with high grades. As a physics student, I used linear algebra on a daily basis. When tutoring in linear algebra, I will help students develop a sound understanding of important concepts such as vector spaces, linear transformations, and matrices. I will work with the students on practice problems involving finding eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrices, as well as using matrices to solve systems of equations. These concepts are important to understand in order to develop a strong math foundation. I have a lot of experience using linear algebra in physics applications, and I excel at explaining the necessary concepts to students.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
