I am a former Japanese translator/consultant and longtime Japan resident. I began studying Japanese in college (I minored in Japanese at Colgate) and continued during my professional career in entertainment licensing at a top Japanese publisher and merchandise licensing agency in Kanda, Jinbocho, the publishing center of Tokyo, Japan. My Japan residency extended from August, 1991, to December, 2000. Although my career as a translator/interpreter ended in 2005, I have continued to use my extensive language skills (both spoken and written Japanese) in my work as recently as 2010. I acquired Japanese through a combination of intensive language study at Colgate, Cornell (summer Falcon Program), and at Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin (Japanese Language Institute), located in Tokyo, Japan.

My extensive experience with Japanese language and culture - initially as a student of the Japanese language and culture, subsequently as a professional translator, and finally a business executive - qualifies me to provide excellent Japanese language tutoring for anyone contemplating a career in a Japanese company, particularly with the intention to live and work in Japan.
