Hello! My name is Emily and I'm really passionate about helping people learn. I tutor English, writing, reading, Spanish, and social studies, among other subjects. I love to find fun and simple ways of mastering complex topics... and I think a good laugh is an important study break!
In terms of academics, I graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Hamilton College with a degree in World Politics. I had a 4.0 GPA. I was honored as part of the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society for academic achievement in the study of Political Science. I was also awarded the Alexander Hamilton award for "excellence in writing."
In college, I was one of a small team of college-sponsored Writing Tutors, and I have to say that was still one of my favorite jobs! For the last couple of years, I've been pursuing some entrepreneurial endeavors and it's a pleasure to do some teaching and tutoring part-time. Nothing is quite as rewarding as seeing a student's eyes light up as they really "get it" for the first time.
My career has spanned education, business, and entrepreneurship. Right after college, I was honored to teach bilingual 6th Grade with Teach For America. That experience showed me that since I love English, writing, reading, and literature, it's a pleasure to share those subjects with students. I'm also bilingual in Spanish, so I also love tutoring spoken or written Spanish.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! I'm available Sunday-Friday to tutor, and I'm very flexible on daily timing. Looking forward to speaking with you soon!
