Hello! My name is Jennifer. I was born and raised in Colorado (Lakewood area). I attended Dennison Elementary and D'Evelyn Jr./Sr. High School. Following graduation, I ventured out to Washington state to attend Seattle Pacific University. I loved this experience living in a new, wonderful city and meeting many great friends. The education I received is irreplaceable. I studied Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts. During this time, I took classes in all of the elementary subjects: math, reading/writing, grammar, science, social studies, art, theater, music, and physical education. While in Seattle, I was a teacher's assistant for a 3rd grade classroom. I also did a year long internship in a 5th grade classroom. During my internship, I taught reading, math, and science to 25 diverse students and also created a supplementary science club for 5th and 2nd graders. Additionally, I have former experience tutoring. I have tutored a 5th grade student (all subjects) who was unable to attend school due to illness and I have also tutored a 3rd grade student (math and reading).
As an educator, I believe it is my job to help all students reach their individual potential and success. I always work to creatively integrate my students' interests and skills into my lessons in order to help the students become more engaged and invested in their learning. I always try and instill my passion for learning into my students so that they understand the value of education and want to continue learning outside of the classroom. I believe I am a caring and approachable teacher. I work hard to build relationships with my students so they understand that I believe in their abilities and want to see them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Now that I am back in Colorado, equipped with my WA and CO licenses, I am looking forward to tutoring students in order to help them recognize their abilities and give them the confidence they need to feel comfortable and excel in school.
