The earliest memories I have are of me tinkering at the piano constantly. I loved listening to the difference of the white verse black keys and would play with the pedals at my feet. I started formal lessons at the age of 9 and have not stopped playing piano since! From High School to Grad School I was always involved in singing ensembles and guitar groups. I went to college and graduate school on piano scholarships and have received awards for my achievements in music.
During my senior year of college, I won the Northern Arizona University Concerto Competition. I had the honor to play Ravel's Piano Concerto for Left Hand Alone, under the direction of David Cripps, former member of the London Symphony Orchestra. In grad school, I fell in love with teaching. I was a graduate assistant for the piano program and taught group piano to music majors and non-majors. The connection I felt with the students is something that I will never forget and take that love of sharing my passion wherever I go.
I believe in structuring my lessons to fit the needs of the individual student. Many of my former students would tell you that I provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere while still providing an excellent music education. My previous piano studio have double or triple in size and I still maintain friendships among many of my former students. One of my students was even a flower girl at my wedding!
I hope to share my love of music with you or your child and create a positive learning experience!
