I am a recent graduate of MSUD (Metropolitan State University of Denver, previously Metropolitan State College of Denver). Other than working various jobs and experiencing life in Denver, over the past four years I have been honing my language knowledge and teaching skills.
I am a native speaker of Italian, a language I minored in as well in order to know it on a more academic level. I also received excellent grades in French all through college, and am looking to teach privately in San Francisco while I pursue schooling to be a French professor.
While in college, I was a tutor at MSUD through the campus Tutoring Center. There, I tutored diverse population, ranging from ELL students, to 18 year old freshmen, to older students returning to school after many years. The people I taught also had a base knowledge ranging from a level comparable to mine to absolute beginners.
Immediately after I graduated I began building my private student base. In Denver I had four students, two to which I tutored in French and two to which I tutored in Italian.
Part of the reason why I like teaching so much is finding new ways to communicate concepts. Over the years, as a student, I've learned the ways for me to understand material the best. I realize that study techniques aren't the same for each student, and I've found it to be a really fun challenge to help tutees of all ages find out how they learn best, and then develop lessons that adhere with that!
I look forward to hearing from you,
Rae
