Dear Parents and students,
I am a former Elementary Teacher who is passionate about teaching phonics, reading and writing. I have three years of teaching experience and many years of substitute teaching in grades K-8. I have been trained in the F.A.S.T. reading program in Denver. F.A.S.T. is a comprehensive, fast paced reading, phonics, and writing program that can be tailored to meet individual needs. My strategy for teaching reading is based on the individual student strength, building on that strength to reach personal goals. I believe in making learning fun. To achieve this I first give my students a personal interest inventory survey to complete so I can design activities based on their favorite things. Next I assess basic phonics, current reading level, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. After strengths and weaknesses are determined I can start creating individual lessons for students to practice and use their own strategies for success.
I look forward to helping guide your child through the reading and writing process to enhance their love of learning.
Thank you,
Teena
