Hello!
My name is Megan and I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in French from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In the fall of 2012, I pursued student teaching at a high school in North East Denver. In January 2013, I received my teaching certificate from the Colorado Department of Education.
I have been a French student since 2002, and absolutely love it.
As a tutor and future French teacher, I believe in giving students as much time they need as possible to practice. If a particular concept is easy, and another is more difficult, I would set us up with several examples of the easy concept, and then move on to the more difficult concept. For example, if the student was struggling with the passé composé, I would create many examples for them to become comfortable with using it on their own.
Secondly, I believe in the power of speaking the language. In the classroom setting, practicing speaking is often difficult because the teacher must assess each student one or two at a time, and this takes quite a lot of time. And although reading, writing, and listening are just as important, I think speaking is often overlooked in the classroom and needs to become a skill that is reinforced all the time.
I look forward to meeting you and your French student!
Merci beaucoup!
Megan
