I am a certified teacher with eighteen years experience. I have worked with students of all levels from kindergarten through graduate programs. Much of my experience has been with students who have special needs, students who struggle with work completion, and many who need support with literacy related skills. I love working with students one on one as it gives me the opportunity to design lessons around individual interests. I am incredibly patient and supportive when helping students achieve their goals.
I graduated from Metro State College of Denver with a minor in Special Education. Once I received my teaching license, I taught in the Denver Public Schools, working with students with a variety of special needs. When I was hired as a Special Education Assistant, the school had a number of students with learning disabilities, Dyslexia being the most prevalent. I pursued a Certificate in the Teaching of Children with Dyslexia, an online course offered through Direct Learning Ltd. Over the course of my 18 years teaching, not a year has passed when I've not taught at least three students identified as having Dyslexia.
I graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a BA in English with an emphasis in Elementary Education. I received my professional teaching license from the state of Colorado which was last renewed in 2011. I worked in Denver Public Schools as an elementary classroom teacher working primarily with 3rd-5th graders for the first five years of my career and have since expanded my reach to include K-6, and beyond. My strength is in teaching literacy, though I worked for two years as a math specialist. I have spent the last nine years tutoring elementary age students outside of the classroom, and reading with struggling readers as a volunteer.

Over the past 18 years, I have worked with students identified as having ADD/ ADHD, Aspergers, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, processing disorders, and those who are twice exceptional.
